Class Experience
This 8 week semester course will cover the basics of Ancient Civilizations. What does "civilization" mean? How is it achieved? What factors influence the development of a civilization? We will discuss what are the requirements to be considered a "civilization," how did the first civilizations develop, what features did they share and what were their differences. We will explore a variety of civilizations from around the world as we discuss the themes and ideas of "civilization." In...
Students will develop an understanding of how historians classify "civilization," as well as the key elements of each of these. We will compare and contrast a variety of civilization and explore the concept of what history itself means.
I have a master's degree in history from the University of Cambridge. I also have 15 years experience in teaching history, literature, and writing from elementary through university levels, including AP level instruction and grading.
Assessments can be provided in any way requested by the family.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
