Week 1: Introduction, Lines 1-49 -We will let Hammurabi introduce himself in the prologue. -We will learn about Hammurabi's sense of justice in general, seeing its first application in property. -We will illustrate a couple scenarios and compare Hammurabi's solution with a more contemporary approach. Week 2: Lines 50-194 -We will engage in the intricacies of irrigation, trade, and family. -We will engage in cultural analysis, both with Hammurabi's culture and our own. Week 3: Lines 195-282, Epilogue -We will examine policies regarding personal injury and business practice (doctors, building, wages). -We will illustrate a couple scenarios and compare Hammurabi's solution with a more contemporary approach.

Students will be able to discuss culture and justice through history and law both in an ancient and a modern context.

Parental Guidance
Much of Hammurabi's sense of justice differs widely from our own. Understanding another culture's customs is important, but some of Hammurabi will strike us today as violent and outdated.
