Beginner Level
Hello and thank you for checking out my class on Ancient Greece! This is a beginner class and it is very basic. We travel through Greece learning about the geography/architecture, the culture, the people and the many stories based on mythology. We take a look through virtual tours, games, videos and more activities. This is a very hands on class where students are engaged throughout the entire course. Here is what to expect each day:

Week 1: Geography and architecture of Ancient Greece. We will be taking a virtual tour of the land as well as the many structures that still stand today. We will talk about the vocabulary, play a drawing game, and end class with a game of Kahoot.

Week 2: The people and culture of Ancient Greece. We will look at the people, discussing the various roles people played in society. We will also look at the birth of the Olympics and why they were started as well as the many Ancient Greek accomplishments.

Week 3: Life in Athens and Sparta. Taking the information learned from the previous day, students will participate in a simulation to learn about life in Athens and Sparta. We will walk through using task cards and play games.

Week 4: Ancient Greek Mythology, Pt. 1. We will take a look at the Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Greek mythology and Mt. Olympus. I use a variety of platforms, including youtube videos and drawings to introduce the gods to students. We end the round with a game of Blooket.

Week 5: Ancient Greek Mythology, Pt. 2 This is the second part of our introduction to Greek Mythology. We learn about some of the different mythological creatures, like Medusa and some of the different stories about the gods. We will also play a final game of Kahoot in this class.

Week 6: Design your own Greek God - Taking knowledge of what they learned in class, students will design their own Greek God. They will base their design on a natural occurrence, like a tornado, and create their god/goddess to help explain where tornadoes come from. They will also create a short creation story for their God.

Students will need another device for Kahoot when we play on the 1st and 3rd days.
