Class Experience

Ancient Greek Civilization: Athens. In this course we will look at the Ancient Greek civilization of Athens. An amazing city where the roots of Western Civilization can be found. In this course we will study the Art, Architecture, sculpture, paintings and mythology that sprang from this ancient city. The parthenon and the city's patron goddess Athena will be explored here. Greek Architecture, sculpture and painting will be studied here. Also of importance were aspects of the law and government that helped shape other civilizations that followed the golden age of Greek thought and culture. The power of philosophy will also be explored. What ideas and thoughts can we glean from them and what did they add to the city of Athens and the life of it's citizens. Of importance here is Socrates and his teachings. I enjoy lecturing, but I enjoy when my students ask questions too. I will prepare slides and a quiz to ensure my students get the most out of this course. Also, I will send an email to inform parents and learners of individual progress in this course. I taught at the college level for years but I think a lifelong pursuit of knowledge can begin when students are young. It is my hope that this class will ignite a love of learning that will endure after this course ends. I have teaching experience at the college level. Art History, Humanities and Art Appreciation were among the subjects I taught. In these subjects an in-depth study of Greek art and Architecture were covered extensively.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Trisha Osborn. I am an art historian and I hope to continue my teaching career on outschool. My Philosophy of teaching is about making connections with my students and helping them to connect to the artwork that we will study. Everyone is different and as a teacher it is my job to help students to find their passion in the subjects that I teach. If my students are engaged and interested then I feel like a success as a teacher. I have experience teaching at the college level and I have earned my BA in Art History and My Master's Degree in Education. I really would love the opportunity to help my students discover new and amazing things from the past and in art history. I look forward to working with you soon.
