In this semester (20 week) course, we will color and discuss a page in the anatomy coloring book every week. Anatomy coloring books are used by high school, university, and medical students to better understand and recall anatomy.

Description

Class Experience

Students will learn human anatomy while understanding that it fits in the context of physiology and medicine. Each week they will create a colorful study sheet they can revisit later.
As a family physician with a decade in private practice, I love teaching young people about how their bodies work. I believe that people who understand their bodies will take better care of them.
Each week I will typically provide a link to a video that a showed a minute or two from in class and the learners may finish outside of class if they choose, but this is not required. The goal is to extend their learning from the page into life.
Every student will need a copy of Human Anatomy Coloring Book: an Entertaining and Instructive Guide to the Human Body - Bones, Muscles, Blood, Nerves and How They Work by Margaret Matt. This is currently $3.86 USD on Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/Human-Anatomy-Coloring-Childrens-Science/dp/0486241386/)

Colored pencils and a pencil sharpener will be necessary--do not use markers or pens as they will bleed through the pages
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Nothing in this class will be or is intended to be medical advice. This is merely educational in nature and will be a surface-level overview. Your student will not be coming out of this class knowing anything about how to diagnose or treat any conditions and we will not be discussing any personal medical questions/needs. Students should come with general questions about the topic.
