Class Experience
This two week class will help learners analyze figurative language through the lyrics of the song-writer, Taylor Swift. Learners will leave having written a few short constructed responses deeply analyzing how figurative language adds layers to the meaning of some of her songs. Week 1: Teacher will show Slide Deck reviewing of basic figurative language devices- metaphors, extended metaphor, similes, personification, hyperbole, and allusion. Students will be able to identify figurative language devices and deeply analyze them through a written response.
Homework will be minimal. Students may be asked to select a song and complete/review some of their writing.

Informal assessment- Q&A and writing conference
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will refer to many of Taylor Swift's albums as we analyze figurative language. Some of the song choices are: "Red," "Bigger Than the Whole Sky," "Out of the Woods, "Mean," and "This Love"
