Class Experience

*Students will need to have access to Nintendo online and a stable internet connection to participate.

The overarching lesson that will be taught through the course is building connections and a community. In this course students will have the opportunity to share thoughts, ideas, and materials in addition to becoming a part of a community with other students that share similar interests and that will ultimately lead to a better Animal Crossing experience as well as a progress in the game Animal Crossing New Horizons. Students will also get to learn how to be an island host and show off his/her island, host mini games, and organize trading events.

In this class students will learn how to progress in Animal Crossing to unlock various areas on their islands such as the museum, Ables Sisters, and Nooks Cranny. Students will also learn ways to make bells quickly, find DIY Recipes, discuss islands design, converse about villagers, and talk about anything Animal Crossing related. Students will get the opportunity to visit my island where they can shop, explore, engage with one another, and play some fun mini games together to increase the sense of community. Students will also be given the opportunity to be an island host as well, where they are given the chance to show off their islands and even host some mini games of their own.

We will practice bell management, and talk about the best ways to earn bells and spend bells. The class is designed to be flexible and meet the needs of the students/players anywhere they are in the game.

The first class will begin with an introduction of all students and enforce the idea that this class is a safe space for all students to feel safe and to share thoughts and ideas with fellow classmates. This is important for the functionality of this class because we are striving for making connections with others.

Every class will begin with the teacher revealing tips and new updates for Animal Crossing. As the course continues, advice on the game will revolve around what students want to learn and know about the game. Students will also be given the opportunity to share any new information they have learned about the game.

The next part of the class, student will continue to explore other player islands with particular goals in mind. For example, students will get to visit an island with the goal of helping another student with the specific task of watering flowers to increase flower breeding possibility. Another example includes the host leaning how to host mini games and putting on a small event for all of his.her guests. Every class will have different focus points, all of which ultimately leads to improved: islands, friendships, communications skills, and Animal Crossing experience.

By the end of this course, students will have access to new and unique items and DIY's, but they will also be a part of a community composed of similarly aged Animal Crossing gamers. In this community, they can learn how to help each other out, communicate ideas, work together to improve islands and be functioning members of a community.
Learning Goals
Students will become a part of a community where they can express and share their passion for Animal Crossing as well as benefit from sharing items, materials, and other rare/hard to find items.

Hello,

My name is Sarah De Los Santos and I am a third year kindergarten teacher. I am so grateful that I have finally achieved my goal in becoming an educator, and I am especially grateful that I get to teach kindergarten. I have a passion for teaching social-skills, communication, and problem-solving, and this is so essential in Kindergarten. I have also been teaching on Outschool for over 2 years. Outschool allowed me to teach social-skills, communication, and problem-solving in a time was impossible for people to come together in person. I was able to create fun and enjoyable classes that incorporated play and gaming to ease students into a social environment to help them learn or build on their social-skills, communication, and problem-solving skills.

As an educator my ultimate goal is to provide students with necessary skills to succeed in life, and while subjects like math are important, I strive to teach students skills like problem-solving and communication because these are the skills that are needed to live productive lives while in turn help with the core subjects. Therefore in my classes you will find that my focus is on character development that focus on improving life skills such as, problem solving, goal setting, communication, and positive mental attitude through more creative outlets such as bullet journaling, video games and other types of creative outlets. My goal is to reach students on a personal level to get them motivated and empower them to become the best version of themselves.
