An Introduction to the Blues
Learn how to play the Blues on guitar focusing on rhythm.
Class experience
Students will learn what the Blues is. What types of chords are used. What types of rhythms are used. And how Blues songs are typically structured. We will look at some blues songs as examples . We will also cover what influence blues has had on modern music . I will be demonstrating these on both acoustic and electric guitars. We will cover what an add6 chord progression is as well as the open 7th chord types. There will be opportunities for students to ask questions and to play if they...
Students will learn what a 7 chord is and how they are different from standard chords. They will learn what a swing rhythm is. And they will learn what an add6 or 6 chord is. Students will learn about syncopation and how it applies in buses style music.
I have been studying music for 30 years and have been playing the Blues for the past 15 years.
Homework Offered
The homework for any musical instrument study is to play the music covered in class.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
