Curious about graphic design? Learn to create eye catching postcards, posters, and mugs using Canva. Go beyond just pulling together random images, through developing an understanding of the relationship between color, images, and fonts. Students will use the free version of Canva to complete a series of projects, many of which can be printed for free at home. This self-paced course provides information on design technique and short tutorials on the project for the week. By the end of this course, students will have a basic understanding of graphic design, how to use common photoshop techniques, how to create printable products, and how to create digital products. This is not a "how to use Adobe Photoshop" course. It does not use photoshop and it does not focus on removing images using the photoshop erasure tool. Canva contains many templates. Students will learn how to modify these templates and to create new templates. This class does not teach students how to make their own font. This class is suitable for: - Students looking to explore graphic design. - Students interested in creating fun social media images. - Students curious about creating their own products. - Artist looking to express themselves in a different medium. - Young entrepreneurs looking to create digital content. - Art curious students (no art experience is required) This class is great for: - Students who have are interested in uses images to create - Students who are willing to try learning a new skill - Students who are seeking a supportive in-class writing environment Feedback: Students who would like feedback on their project are encouraged to share their design link before end of day Friday. On Fridays, the teacher will review any Canva links that have been received, and post the student designs to the classroom page. There, the teacher will post feedback. Classmates are also encouraged to post feedback on peer projects. Posting comments helps each artist learn to look at the individual components of a design. Instructor feedback may include recommendations or requests for changes to the design.
