Students will learn about different cities and regions around Italy. We'll cover major time periods and their dominant historical figures, such as emperors & Roman Senators. We will focus on Italian history as well as modern daily life. Students will learn basic Italian phrases to describe food and sights. This is not a language class, rather, language is used to further students knowledge.
I have had the privilege of living in Rome and have visited other regions of Italy. In university my elective courses were mostly 3000 & 4000 level art history and humanities courses.
There will be no out of class assignment, but an authentic Italian recipe will be shared with students after each lesson!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners are assessed by informal assessment. Students who show understanding of the course content, remain engaged, participate in class discussions, and ask questions will be assessed to have successfully completed the course. If your learner has special assessment requirements please reach out before the start of the course. We are happy to work with the needs of parents, organizers, charter schools, and homeschooling programs.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
