Daydream Academy's Among Us Club is designed to seamlessly amalgamate the worlds of education and play. Our learning goals leverage the interactive and engaging nature of Among Us to foster a variety of skills among tweens. Our goals include:

🔴 Critical Thinking and Decision Making: Enhance learners' ability to analyze situations, evaluate information critically, and make informed decisions quickly, especially under the game's high-pressure scenarios.

🟢 Teamwork and Collaboration: Promote effective teamwork and collaboration as learners work together to complete tasks, solve mysteries, and discuss strategies, emphasizing the importance of communication and cooperation.

🔵 Social and Communication Skills: Improve social and verbal communication skills through gameplay that requires discussing strategies, negotiating, and persuading others, fostering a supportive and interactive environment.

🟡 Problem-Solving Skills: Develop problem-solving abilities by encouraging learners to navigate challenges, identify impostors, and strategize task completion, all of which require logical thinking and creativity.

🟣 Emotional Intelligence: Cultivate emotional intelligence and empathy as players consider the perspectives and motivations of other players, manage their own emotions during gameplay, and respond to winning and losing with grace.

🟠 Trust and Ethics: Teach the value of trust and ethical gameplay, highlighting honesty, integrity, and the consequences of deception within a controlled and safe environment.

🔴 Digital Literacy: Boost digital literacy by familiarizing learners with the gaming platform, including navigation, game mechanics, and the use of technology for collaborative play.

🟢 Leadership Skills: Encourage leadership among participants as they take on roles that require guiding teams, making critical decisions, and fostering a positive team environment.

🔵 Analytical Skills: Strengthen analytical skills by requiring learners to gather information, deduce possibilities, and make sound decisions based on the game's dynamic situations.

🟡 Adaptability and Flexibility: Highlight the importance of adaptability and flexibility, as learners must adjust to new roles, strategies, and team dynamics with each game round.

These learning goals are designed to ensure that participation in our Among Us Club is not only fun and engaging but also educational, providing learners with valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit them beyond the gaming environment.

🟢 Device to play on - phone, tablet, Nintendo Switch, or computer
🔵 Separate device for Zoom to ensure a stable game connection  

For example, I use my computer for our Zoom meeting and I play on my iPad.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Among Us has been assigned an Everyone 10+ rating by the ESRB with Content Descriptors that include “Fantasy Violence” and “Mild Blood.” The game should be reviewed by parents prior to enrolling to assess suitability for their learner. Please download and update the game prior to class so we can get started immediately. Gamer tags are not required for class because we will use a temporary code provided by the game to connect online.
