Class Experience

Among Us is a social deduction game, making it far more nuanced and complicated than most other out there! This program will be used to help both new and experienced players understand and explore the rules of the game and social interaction to help them find the Imposter or become a successful one!

Depending on student experience, we will be covering a number of topics such as the following:

-Advanced task strategies & tricks
-Top ways to secretly eliminate crewmates
-Top imposter mistakes and how NOT to make them
-Turn other's suspicion into trust
-How to be a smart Crewmate team
-How to be a smart Imposter team

After each game played, the class will review a few key events that happened during the game, and why the imposter or crewmates lost.

Given the nature of Among Us, learners have a few additional expectations:
-Learners will be expected to treat everyone in the classroom with respect at all times
-Learners must take both losses and wins with grace
-Learners must be ready for social confrontation within the confines of the game. Being accused of not telling the truth, being singled out or other similar things WILL happen when playing Among Us. Discussion or 'interrogation' can be aggressive but not mean or derogatory in nature.
-Learners must be ready to not get the 'Imposter' role for the duration of the class, since it is randomly assigned.

Every learner will be given one warning for light infractions of the above expectations and be given a chance to cool off. Should a learner not follow these expectations, they may be muted or removed from the learning environment.

If a class should have a smaller enrollment, we may open the in-game lobby to additional players from the public userbase. Interaction from these users will be supervised.

Learning Goals

Students will learn basic, intermediate or advanced skills in social deduction depending on the level of skill they bring into the game Among Us. This includes the ability to discern misdirection and a number of other tools used by effective imposters within the game while also using those skills themselves.
Students will learn advanced techniques to speed up their completion of 'tasks' within the game
Students will also learn other in-game skills based on their level of play.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! I'm River, or I also go by my online alias @Spearmaker,

I'm here to teach all kinds of exciting programs. Most of them are built around developing skills in exciting and popular Video-Game titles such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate or Rocket league!

By career, by personal vision, by my source of income, by identity, I am a teacher.
I started teaching more seriously when I was around 14 and it's become more and more important to me ever since! Now I run my own STEAM education company and also have had the pleasure of being featured in major publications for my efforts in educating some of the most talented E-Athletes out there!

Most of my teaching is built around helping students to never need another coach again, simply because they're able to review their own progress, find flaws and then make effective and healthy habits to overcome them! However until they're able to self analyze, I'm with them every step of the way to speed up their development and keep things fun (and usually funny!)

I'm a huge nerd for LEGO, Illustration, Tabletop RPGs, Dad-Jokes and love sharing with those around me.

Feel free to reach me anytime with questions and I'd be happy to get right back to you.

I'm lookin' forward to workin' with you!
