Among Us is already a creepy game, so how could I not plan a Halloween themed event for my favorite crewmates? In this class we will play Among Us. I am also asking students to dress in their Halloween costumes. Not ready with your costume yet? No problem! Dress up as an Among Us crewmate! Take a look through the Among Us hat and skin options to get some awesome ideas! We will first meet in the Outschool classroom where I will help students to get onto our own private Among Us game. Students should have two devices so that we can continue to chat in the Zoom class while playing on another device. One of those device must already have the app "Among Us" downloaded to it. Introduction of Lauren Snider aka "Best Teach" Introduction of the rules for my class Students will vote on the maps that we will use for our classes Teacher will set up the game and give the code to students so that we can play Please note that the game will determine who acts as the impostor. I am unable to control this aspect of the game. That means that I am unable to guarantee that each student will get a turn as the impostor. Additionally, I please be aware that during the game, there is a discussion time. At this time, students will share information that they have noticed during play that will help narrow down who did it. This class will be a great way for students to develop community with other students that enjoy playing Among Us. ______________________ Please Note the Following: *This class requires a minimum of 4 students per class. The reason for this is that playing with fewer than 4 in a game is not very fun. If the minimum is not reached, this class will be cancelled. *If your student would like to have hats like the holiday hats on the picture of this class, they must buy the game as opposed to using the free version. *Refunds will NOT be given for students who do not have game downloaded and updated. Please have your student on a device with the latest version of the app. *Use of hacks is not allowed in my classes.

Parental Guidance
Please be aware: If your child is not playing the paid version of the game, there are ads. Some ads could be inappropriate for children.
This game can be difficult for children that are not prepared to lose.
Please have a conversation with your child before joining this class so that they are aware that they cannot be a sore loser or winner in this class.
Note: Among Us is the the digital equivalent of Clue. The person that is the impostor is trying to sneak around and kill other players without being noticed. It is rated of 9+ for the following: Infrequent: Mild Horror, Fear Themes, and Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence. When a player is killed, there is very little gore. The picture that they see is a very simply drawn cartoon that changes from looking like an alien to looking like a ham with a bone coming out of it. If you have concerns about the reasons for the ratings, I would recommend trying the game before signing your child up for this class.
Supply List
Please have a device to play on while also continuing to converse in our Outschool Zoom classroom. Please have the game downloaded before coming to class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Westminster College
Hi! My name is Lauren, but my students call me "Best Teach". I graduated from Westminster College in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I earned my Pennsylvania English as a Second Language Program Specialist K-12 certification. I moved to Shenandoah, Virginia to teach English as a Second Language in 2006. I taught over 40 students (K-12) at 4 different schools. In 2007, I moved to the traditional first grade classroom.
Since then, I have taught in many different capacities. I have taught baby sign language to parents, online for two years as an English as a Second Language teacher, and as a homeschool tutor. My most valuable teaching experience has come as a homeschool mom. I have been teaching my neurodivergent 15 year old son and neurotypical 12 year old daughter since the day they were born.
I bring a variety of classes to Outschool, because I like to pull from all of my interests and talents.
