Is your student hooked on Among Us but hung up on key 4th grade math skills? I'm so excited to bring your student an exciting way to play and learn. Your students' mission is to complete all of the crewmate tasks before the imposter sabotages our ship! Once a math problem is completed, students will advance forward by completing a task onboard the ship. Students may choose to work together or work alone. Communication is encouraged as math talk is a helpful tool for students to hear and participate in. In this unique game, students will complete tasks to improve their number fluency, place value skills, rounding, and more. The math problems meet the 4th grade math TEKS (Texas Math Standards) as follows: 2(A) interpret the value of each place-value position as 10 times the position to the right and as one-tenth of the value of the place to its left; (B) represent the value of the digit in whole numbers through 1,000,000,000 and decimals to the hundredths using expanded notation and numerals; (C) compare and order whole numbers to 1,000,000,000 and represent comparisons using the symbols >, <, or =; (D) round whole numbers to a given place value through the hundred thousands place; (E) represent decimals, including tenths and hundredths, using concrete and visual models and money; (F) compare and order decimals using concrete and visual models to the hundredths; (G) relate decimals to fractions that name tenths and hundredths; and 4(A) add and subtract whole numbers and decimals to the hundredths place using the standard algorithm.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their ability to represent, compare, and order whole numbers and decimals and understand relationships related to place value.
Other Details

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
My name is Katelyn Pipes. Welcome to Outschool!
I teach a variety of classes, both education and extra-curricular based. I believe that learning is best done when we learn through PLAY and engage our natural learning modes (song, dance, kinetic, auditory, and language.) These learning modes help us learn and retain our new skills quicker. Every learner is different and each of us draw on these learning modes to adapt to new content. I love using songs, movement, and play to enhance my lessons and engage my students.
I have been teaching online for 3 years with VIPKID. I love my job and meeting new students in China and abroad. I also tutor K-3 students in math and reading, both online and in-person. My reading pedagogy is based on the Science of Reading. I love seeing my students grow and foster their love for reading through explicit, systematic instruction. I completed my Bachelor's of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Tarleton State University. I am a certified teacher in the State of Texas and am endorsed to teach Early Childhood through 6th grade and ESL. I am pursuing my Masters degree to become a Reading Specialist.
My husband and I have two daughters, Finley Rae (3 years old) and Elliott Mae (2 years old). We enjoy playing outside, dancing in our kitchen, and playing with sensory bins.
I hope you'll join me in the classroom soon! I know we will have a blast together and learn while playing.
