-Introductions to story telling -Using signing space -Using 3D space - Role/body shifting -Taking on character rolls/acting it out -Non Manual Markers (facial expressions, facial expressions FACIAL EXPRESSIONS) -Deaf Culture -Sentence structures and grammar -Classifiers and hand shapes Week 1 -review -story telling Week 2 -introduce new vocabulary (topic picked by class members) -story telling Week 3 -introduce new vocabulary (topic picked by class members) -story telling Week 4 -introduce new vocabulary (topic picked by class members) -story telling -session wrap-up In addition to all the new materials, we will also focus on using our voices less and signing more to communicate. The best way to improve our language skills is to use the language skills. Each class period we will start with a brief game of Charades. This is a fun way for students to get into the habit of using your body to communicate, use classifiers and non manual marks or facial expressions. This will also help with story telling!
Learning Goals
Students will have basic conversation skills and a more creative way to communicate without voicing even when they don't know the actually sign for specific words.Other Details
