Your child will learn ASL basics and fundamentals in just 15 weeks
Class experience
Take on a new hobby and learn American Sign Language along with Deaf culture! In this 15-week course, students will participate in live, weekly lessons with peers and the instructor. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How is this class conducted: Class meets one time a week for 45 minute sessions. Students will learn how to sign their ABC's, numbers, colors, emotions, multiple phrases, questions, animals, numbers, people, and family signs, etc! Learners will not only learn signs but will also have receptive practice lessons every week. Receptive skills are a crucial part of the language and will benefit expressive skills as well. This is also a fun activity for learners. Many feel accomplished and proud they can understand the visual language!
I studied American Sign Language Interpreting in college and received my Bachelor's Degree through Northern Arizona University. I have been a sign language Interpreter in the K-12 setting for the past eight years. I am fluent and passionate about this beautiful language and Deaf culture. I also have experience teaching. So I figured why not merge the two together!

There will be three assessment-style lessons. Every 5 weeks, students will be instructed to take a receptive and a recording expressive quiz to test their skills and knowledge. On week 14, students will be instructed to take a brief Deaf culture assessment (on a Google Form).Grades Offered

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
