Class Experience

American Sign Language is a skill that some people can use to communicate with each other for fun, enjoyment, or for complete communication.  If you desire to learn the basics of American Sign Language, this is the course for you.  We will start off learning the ABC's, then move onto simple gestures you can use to sign to other's.  We will learn phrases like thank you, welcome, mom, dad, sister, brother, grandparents, aunt, uncle, cousin, and much much more.  This is a fun relaxing class that...

Learning the basic signs of American Sign Language
Week 1: The basics and Common signs
week 2: directional verbs and leisure activities. Then review the basics, common signs, directional verbs, and leisure activities

This is a comfortable course to sit back and work with your hands to learn a new skill.  I educated myself in how to do simple sign language skills to be able to communicate with my own family.  This course is not designed to be an expert, but to learn the basic of American Sign Language.

Practice sign language in front of a mirror or with a friend.

E-Z American Sign Language
Book by David Stewart

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:E-Z American Sign Language

55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

Practice with the student to remember the signs from American Sign Language before returning to the next class.
