Description

Class Experience

After students complete my class, they will have a deeper understanding about the deaf, their culture, and signs themselves. They will specifically learn how to make sentences, learn about how ASL began, and will work with me on becoming good interpreters through the signs they learn.
I have over 15 years experience in learning, teaching, and interpreting ASL. I have many deaf friends who have been patient with me as I learned and understood what this amazing language has to offer.
I will be teaching from the book, Signing Made Easy by Rod Butterworth. Other materials that would be helpful are: 1. American Sign Language Dictionary by Martin Sternberg, 3rd Edition 2. The Joy of Signing by Lottie Riekehof 3. A Helping Hand, Practical Aid for the Deaf Interpreter by Janie Ball
2 hours 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
