American Sign Language is a beautiful and unique visual language--making it the perfect language to learn through a flexible course format! This FLEX course will be customized to each student's individual signing skills and experience. Students who are learning the language for the first time will start with the alphabet and basic conversations. If a student starts the class and realizes they know the alphabet and numbers and would like to skip ahead, they are able to do so. The more work a...
Each week students will be expected to watch the video lessons and complete the corresponding activities. The amount of time this takes will vary by student, but families can expect to spend 1-2 hours a week doing work and studying American Sign Language. This will also vary by student, and I am happy to further challenge students who excel during the class.
Students will curate their own video dictionary to keep!
Student's will be assessed via Pear Deck, Quizizz, Kahoot, and Flipgrid. Because ASL is a visual language, it is important that students record themselves and interact with their classmates via recording (Flipgrid) to improve their expressive (signing) and receptive (watching) skills. I will also use this to correct, modify, and encourage students.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
