Class Experience

In this interactive, 4-week, flexible schedule course, your child will learn to communicate in sign language. No sign language experience is required. Our classes will focus on getting your child comfortable using their hands and face to communicate in sign language.

Your learner will also be introduced to deaf culture. We will build on what we've learned each class, and each week we will have practice homework. I will prerecord and submit the classes to the classroom at the beginning of each week (on or before Monday) and a second video in the middle of the week. Each class will begin with a vocabulary lesson and will end with the homework assignment.

The students will watch the class and sign along with the teacher/s. They will then be encouraged to teach someone else what they've learned. Before the end of the week each student will be required to submit a video of themselves signing the assigned homework. The teacher will be able to see how learners are progressing in their signs and give correction where needed.

Week 1:
Class 1: colors of the rainbow
Class 2: common animals (dog, cat, cow, horse, etc)

Week 2:
Class 3: family members (mommy, daddy, sister, brother, grandma, grandpa, cousin, aunt, uncle, etc)
Class 4: feelings (happy, sad, excited, scared, surprised, sick, etc)

Week 3:
Class 5: alphabet (at least the letters of their name)
Class 6: outside things

Week 4:
Class 7: numbers 1-10
Class 8: review

We will learn through games, flash cards, activity, and song.
