With over 15 years of teaching experience in American Sign Language (ASL), including a decade of direct engagement within the Deaf community, I offer a wealth of expertise. I have successfully taught ASL programs in diverse local settings like preschools, private kindergartens, recreation centers, and libraries. As a parent of a Hard of Hearing child and an Outschool teacher, I recognize the significance of effective communication through signing. My teaching approach prioritizes creating an enjoyable and interactive learning atmosphere, ensuring students acquire essential skills and develop a lifelong passion for ASL. Be assured that no sensitive or high-risk information will be shared in this class.
Each week the learner will answer questions from the video or video themselves doing basic signs. We will be using Kahoots! and Google Forms.
Equip yourself with just your hands as the essential tool! Prepare yourself for an enriching journey into acquiring a new language!
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Informal Assessment - Parents and Learner will receive a biweekly update on the learners progress.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
No live meetings, flexible to watch videos and answer or video answer each week!
With a full teaching and program development background, I bring extensive expertise in ASL. I draw upon a valuable resource: my network of deaf friends, enriching the learning experience.
