Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in American Sign Language.
Students will learn or practice in alphabet, numbers, animals, and colors in American Sign Language. Students will ensure the acquisition of each sign efficiently with the Deaf teacher.
Personally, I was born Deaf and raised in learning American Sign Language along literacy in English. Professionally, I taught ASL to ages 9 to 14 at a local community center for the summer seasonal in 2021. I was a substitute teacher for the deaf in an elementary and high school utilizing ASL to communicate from 2019 to 2021. As a university student, I was the President of the ASL Club in the Fall of 2020 virtually. I took courses in ASL 1 to 5 college courses to ensure I am aware of the ASL structure, grammar, syntax, importance of facial expression, and utilizing classifiers.
2 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
I will be utilizing PowerPoint slides by screen sharing to the platform Zoom.
