In this one time course, students will learn basic animal signs in American Sign Language from a native speaker including most zoo, farm and pet animals, their sign, and a fact about them!
Class experience
This class will teach students American Sign Language from a native speaker who teaches Zoology: Animal, Lion, Bear, Tiger, Fish, elephant, Cat, dog, bug, turtle, Sea turtle, cow, horse, pig, frog, Fox owl, deer, raccoon, skunk, squirrel, wolf, snake, bird, duck. We will show pictures of each animal, discuss the sign and how it was developed or how it represents the animal as well as learn a cool fact about each animal, like "Did you know some people keep skunks as pets?! Students will learn the sign in American Sign Language from a native speaker: Animal, Lion, Bear, Tiger, Fish, elephant, Cat, dog, bug, turtle, Sea turtle, cow, horse, pig, frog, Fox owl, deer, raccoon, skunk, squirrel, wolf, snake, bird, duck. If time permits and students are able, we will practice the signs and maybe learn more including: Hippo, Crocodile , Shark, rhinoceros, Whale, Dolphin, Eagle, Octopus, Sheep, Goat, Butterfly, Turkey, Spider, Rabbit, Rat, mouse, giraffe, monkey, gorilla, worm, zebra, seal, penguin, squirrel or others!
I am a native ASL speaker and certified Zoology teacher.
Homework Offered
Students should practice their animal signs to remember them, and a visit to a zoo, farm or petting zoo would be a great family opportunity for this, either virtually or in real life!Assessments Offered
