American Sign Language (ASL) 101 : The Alphabet
Students will learn the alphabet in ASL and implement their learning through a fun and interactive game.
In this introductory class, students will gain an understanding of the American Sign Language alphabet. Students will also have the opportunity to implement their newly acquired knowledge by engaging in ASL Bingo. ASL Bingo allows student to work on their receptive sign language skills (training the eyes). Students will learn through teacher modeling, and images of ASL handshapes to guide them. Learning the alphabet is an essential building block to ASL.
I began learning ASL at the age of 14 and have been using it in different social settings ever since. I have used ASL in my personal life to communicate with friends who are Deaf. I have also used ASL in my professional life with my students when I was a former middle school teacher for the deaf.
1. ASL Alphabet ( will be sent to class) 2. ASL Bingo Card (will be sent out individually)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
