will be taught in this class. Students will mimic teacher and follow teacher for right hand and finger placement. This class is very inclusive and students are encouraged to participate. Week One: We will learn the alphabet and words pertaining to the alphabet as well as numbers 1-20. We will also learn the signs for different colors. On the 20th we will review what we learned on the 17th and learn signs for different animals. Week Two: We will learn the signs for different foods, students will learn how to share what their favorite food is in ASL. On the 26th we will discuss what we learned in the previous class and learn the first section of nouns. Week Three: Students will study the second part of nouns and then study the first list of verbs. Students will start learning to put some of the nouns and verbs together to form basic sentences. Week Four: This class is back to back due to labor day. We will be discussing part 2 and 3 of the verbs list. Students will work together to form correct sentences with the nouns and verbs they have now learned. Week Five: Students will study part one and two of the adjectives list. Students will also learn about classifiers which involves hand shapes to describe and identify things in ASL storytelling. Students will be able to describe their room and favorite vacation using proper syntax and classifiers. Week Six: Students will continue to work on classifiers and ASL story telling. Students will be asked to describe the location of their favorite place and present it to the class. Teacher will help students correct syntax and hand placements if necessary. We will also be doing a review of Nouns/Adjectives/Verbs this week. Week 7: Role Shifting is very important in ASL We will be discussing role shifting and doing some sentence examples. We will also be discussing proper facial movements and eyebrow movements when doing sentences. This week will be focused on putting together classifiers and role shifting as well as facial movements which is the most important structure for ASL. Week 8: Students will learn how to spell out money and words pertaining to money (ex: Joe had $3.45 and gave Sally $2.00) . October the 7th we will learn about Time and how to sort out time. We will also be working about measurements as well (learning how to sign pounds/ounces, etc) Week 9: Students will learn how to describe weeks in sentences and will be doing practice sentences. Oct 14th we will review sentences and learn about days/years in ASL. Week 10: Students will review time, money, days, years, weeks and weight. We will be doing a few practice sentences and working on facial expressions, role shifting and correct hand placements. Week 11: We will be learning words and sentences pertaining to Halloween! Fun class! We will also start learning a song this week. (Students will discuss which song on Oct. 21st that they would like to learn) Week 12: This week students will continue to work on songs and do a review of everything.
