This is a flexible schedule course. That means that we don't have any live Zoom meetings. Instead, learners are able to access and complete the materials each week at a time that is convenient for them. Even though we don't meet live, this class is still interactive! Students will participate in video discussions every week. Some weeks, students will use interactive Boom Cards to review and test their knowledge. Learners will demonstrate mastery of the subject matter through assignments...

I hold a master's degree in Instructional Design (MSID). I am a state certified teacher with 11 years of experience teaching in a traditional classroom setting. I'm certified to teach Social Studies in 5th - 9th grade.
Students will complete digital assignments each week. Students will participate in Flipgrid video discussions every week. Some weeks, students will use interactive Boom Cards to review and test their knowledge and demonstrate mastery of the subject matter through quizzes.
Students will be provided with learning documents and videos. Most lessons and assignments will be provided via links to Google Slides. Therefore, students/parents must have a Google account so that learners can save and complete the Slide assignments.
All students will receive weekly feedback from the teacher.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
We are studying a war. Violence and death are a part of that. However, since this is a foundational course for children, nothing is graphically depicted to keep it age appropriate.
In class, we will refer to official documents including the Declaration of Independence and the Treaty of Paris.
