Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this 3-day class, students will be introduced to American coins. We will learn the name and value of the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half-dollar and dollar coin. We will practice skip counting by ones, fives, tens, twenty-fives, fifties and hundreds. Students will practice choosing the coins needed to buy the food and toys seen in the pictures. We will also talk about how many of each coin are equal to one dollar. Each class includes at least two worksheets that we will do together, as well as many colorful slides. This is an interactive class, so students will be given lots of opportunities to participate.

Day 1 - Students will learn about pennies, nickels and dimes. We will practice counting together by ones, fives and tens.

Day 2 - Students will learn about quarters, half-dollars and the dollar coin. We will practice counting by twenty-fives, fifties, and one hundreds.

Day 3 - We will review the most common coins, the penny, nickel, dime and quarter. On this day, we will again practice counting by ones, fives, tens and twenty-fives. We will also practice counting mixed coins in order to buy the items on the slides. Students will be able to practice matching the coins with the correct values by cutting and gluing paper coins into the correct boxes.

I look forward to seeing your learner in my class!

Bachelor's Degree in Education from Calvary Bible College
Hello! My name is Miss Mary Jane. I have a B.S. degree in elementary education from Calvary Bible College. I also have a 120-hour TESOL certificate. My husband and I live in Nebraska and are the parents of six awesome kids! I have homeschooled each of our children through high school. In addition to homeschooling, I've also taught ESL online, to students in China for the past six years. I love to see children learn, and to have fun while learning! My hope is that each child will feel comfortable in my classes and will feel free to ask questions about things they don't understand. Most of my classes are interactive and student-centered. I am looking forward to seeing your learner in my classroom!
