Class Experience

Learning Goals:
• Students will understand American history better than students who take a full year of history in a traditional middle school
• Students will also be exposed to differing viewpoints
• Students will feel comfortable partaking in class discussions
The teacher has a bachelor's degree in history, a master's degree in international studies, and a teaching certificate in social sciences. He has lived in China for 14 years and is fluent in Mandarin, Chinese. He has also travelled to and studied history from different points of view.

Furthermore, the teacher is an expert in teaching culture and history from varying perspectives. He has taught AP US History which requires students to analyze primary sources from different perspectives. He has also taught World History in middle school.

Lastly, expert sources will be used in this class. These expert sources will include Khan Academy, National Geographic, and sources that tell history for different perspectives. Sources with different views will also be explored.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

To prepare for this class, the teacher will use a wide variety of expert sources that present multiple viewpoints. These expert sources will include Khan Academy, National Geographic, and sources with different points of view.
