Students will not need to bring anything to this course (although note-taking is encouraged it is not required). This is a lecture-style course with discussion and debate encouraged. (Students who are not comfortable sharing/participating are always welcome to simply participate at the level they are most comfortable). Course Overview: Lesson 1: The British Empire & The First Colonies Lesson 2: The Road to Independence & A New Type of Government Lesson 3: Westward Expansion & Mexican American War Lesson 4: Civil War & World War 1 Lesson 5: World War 2 & Post-War America Lesson 6: USA and the Coldwar America & The Future of the USA Also all notes will be provided at the begining of the unit so you're welcome to follow up at your own pace.
Learning Goals
This course is meant to give students the framework they need to understand American history. It will cover the bare essentials in a way that is meant to get students excited about history and help them make sense of what they already know. This class is perfect for learners that simply need a bit of review, have no history knowledge whatsoever, or just fans of US history in general.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Idaho Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Idaho
I have 16 years of experience as an educator. The majority of my years were as an international educator. I teach history to students from a wide variety of backgrounds. For example one year I had a German student, an American student, and a Japanese student all in the same class when we were covering WW2. I teach history from an objective standpoint and make sure to respect the beliefs and cultures of all the students in my class. History is how we tell our stories, and my job as an educator is to help students find their own stories of how they go to be where they are. History is my passion and look forward to bringing that passion to my students in a way that is fair, honest, equitable and respectful to all of my diverse students.
