Description
Class Experience
Learners will come away from this class with knowledge of the Wellie Wishers book series and characters. They will gain an understanding of the natural world through studying seasons. They will practice artistic and creative skills through crafting. They will also strengthen social and emotional skills by exploring ideas and feelings in a supportive teacher led group setting. They will gain problem solving skills by solving mystery novel inspired challenges.
I have previously taught language and literature courses in homeschool co-ops for young children. I have taught art classes at local community centers. I teach English as a Second Language.
The learners will need to read The Mystery of Mr. E by Valerie Tripp with an adult before class according to the reading schedule below Chapter 1 completed prior to meeting #1 Chapter 2 completed prior to meeting #2 Chapter 3 completed prior to meeting #3 Chapter 4 and 5 completed prior to meeting #4
8 files available upon enrollmentWeek 1: Learners will need white printer paper and scissors to make snowflakes Week 2: Learners may print out animal bingo for use in the course materials after class Week 3: Learners may print the garden map in the course materials to make predictions Week 4: Learners may print a puppy coloring page included in the course materials and bring something to color it
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The Wellie Wisher Book series is specifically written to support early elementary age girls in developing social and emotional intelligence through friendships in supportive environments and therefore is best for learners ages 5 through 9. We may use scissors in craft time.
