In this 3 day Camp we will make items from Kits garden party idea in her cook book. All students will be guided in making a banana cake, tissue flowers, paper lantern garland, grape lemonade and clay cake for the dolls! I will also talk about certain aspects of having a party during the Great Depression that Kit would have had to work with. Below is a break down of each day. Cake: Cooking spray 2 9inch round pans electric mixer flour baking powder baking soda salt soft butter sugar eggs 5 bananans vanilla buttermilk vanilla frosting anything for decoration such as banana slices, edible flowers, sprinkles or anything you want! Tissue flowers tissue in any colors you wish floral wire Lanters: construction paper in any colors string Grape lemonade: grape juice ice cube tray lemonade straw- optional Cake Slices for dolls: Polymer clay in any colors you want their layered cake slices to be, if you want it to look like your cake I would use light Brown and white Clay tools or a rolling pin and butter knife
3 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We will be baking in this class so if you child isn't comfortable in the kitchen alone please have off camera help. Things, such as the oven, measuring cups and other kitchen tools will be used. Feel free to pre measure before class if your child needs help with that and you wish to be hands off.
