In this lesson we will read and watch a few video clips about Joss Kendrick, the first American Girl doll with a hearing impairment. We will discuss how she deals with her hearing loss. She is an avid surfer who happens to have a hearing impairment. In the story she uses some ASL, but mostly uses hearing aides and reads lips to help her hear better. I am certified in elementary education, early childhood education, special education, learning disabilities and Primary Montessori. I have the literacy endorsement and I have also been the Literacy Teacher of the Year and Teacher of the Year. I am trained in Project Read. I also have a hearing impairment.
