In this on-going American Girl Doll travel club, virtually travel all over the world with your doll while making new friends! Travelers are introduced to new places, languages and foods while also learning about the world around them!

Class experience

I am a STEM educator who believes that learning can come from all different sources. I enjoy traveling and have a degree in Anthropology. There is so much to learn from cultures around the world. I grew up with American Girl Dolls and think they make great playmates and companions. Children learn best when they are having fun and playing!
Please have learner bring their doll to class. Dolls do NOT need to be American Girl Dolls. Any doll works!
Parental guidance is not needed for this class. If your learner would like to craft during class they are welcome to do so. Please supervise with any scissors or hot glue.
I use a number of sources to put together the travel itinerary for this class. First I consult Google Travel and Trip Advisor for locations that look fun. I try to pick an assortment of places to visit including outdoor venues, museums, parks, historic sites, entertainment centers and more. If there is an American Girl Doll that has connections to a particular place, for example Grace Thomas (Paris) or Kira Bailey (Australia), I try to include them in my slides and refer to their stories since it is an American Girl Doll Travel Club.

I also use other internet resources for information about our travel destinations. Often I go to the town, city or country website and gather information from there. There are often links to recommended destinations, public programs and historic information. I have used National Geographic for information as well as the Discovery and History Channels. This is not a history class. If speaking about history, it is generally associated with a specific place we are visiting and therefore the information comes from that site. For example, if we visit the Louvre in Paris, I gather information from the Louvre.

I make a point of traveling ALL over the world so students see a diversity in ethnicity, language, culture, foods, history and more.
