American Girl Doll Sewing Camp Session I: Learning to Draft and Sew Clothes for 18" Dolls
Class experience
During this 5-day Summer Camp, students will draft simple patterns and create 2 skirts and a ruffle dress to fit an 18" doll. Day 1 = Students will use measurements given to them to draft patterns on paper. Day 2 = Students will use their pattern and cut out two skirt designs and a dress on their chosen fabric. Day 3 = Students will sew skirt #1 Day 4 = Students will sew skirt #2 and start on the dress Day 5 = Students will complete the dress Students MUST know sewing machine basics....
Supplies can be purchased at Walmart, Joanns, Thrift Stores, or any local sewing & craft store in your area. Pattern Making: A roll of dollar store wrapping paper or kraft paper for drafting our patterns A pen, pencil, or marker for drafting on paper Fabric Needed: Skirt #1 = 1/4 yard of woven fabric Skirt #2 = 1/4 yard of woven fabric and 1/4 yard of woven contrasting fabric Ruffle Dress = 1/2 yard of woven fabric Tools & Notions Needed: Sewing Machine Thread An iron & ironing board 1 yard of 3/8" elastic 1 tape measure 1 dritz see through 2" x 18" ruler or a yard stick Chalk, fabric marking pen, or fabric pencil for marking on fabric Straight Pins Fabric Scissors Paper Scissors A small size safety pin
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
NOTE* ADULT SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED FOR IRONING THE FABRIC.
