Your student will learn American History 1607-1865 while enjoying stories from American Girl Dolls. The dolls featured in this class will be Kaya, Felicity, Caroline, Josefina, Kirsten, and Addy. We will use the dolls’ story in addition to real historical stories to bring history alive for your student. Your student will complete one craft project and a lapbook per doll. Weeks 1&2: Kaya; paper plate basketweaving & lapbook. Jamestown, Pilgrims, Plimouth, Mayflower, Native Americans (Nez Perce), French & Indian War, early American colonists Weeks 3&4: Felicity; fabric mop cap & lapbook. American Revolution, Louisiana Purchase Week 5: Caroline; 1812 flag & lapbook. Lewis & Clark, Slave Trade, War of 1812 (Battle of Fort McHenry 1814) Weeks 6&7: Josefina; Cascaron Eggs & lapbook. Life on a rancho, Hide & Tallow trade, Mexican-American War Week 8: Kirsten; frontier cabin & lapbook. Worldwide travel, cotton gin, slaves Weeks 9&10: Addy; Freedom Quilt & lapbook.
