The SAT/ACT essay differs tremendously from the College Application essay. In this session, I will teach you the elements scored for the SAT and ACT : reading comprehension, analysis and lines of reasoning, and writing convention, grammar, and fluidity. You will learn how the essay is scored and where you can add elaboration to earn a higher score.
Please bring a rough draft of the essay that you write prior to the class. (Below I have attached a prompt with directions for you). If you do the writing prior, I will be able to give you specific feedback.
I will first go over the formats of the essays and what will be required. I will help you look at areas in your draft and how they may be improved. I will give you pointers and good examples of what would score well for the prompt we are working with.
