Amazing Sharks! Animal Story Time With Reading Comprehension and Drawing Fun

In this class, students will listen to the teacher read, "Amazing Sharks!" while they watch a slide show of the book. At the end of the story, students will be asked five comprehension questions that consist of multiple-choice, true/false, and discussion questions. Students will be encouraged to elaborate during the discussion questions to further demonstrate their understanding. They will also be guided into sharing their opinions and knowledge on the subject matter. After the reading comprehension portion of the class, students will follow an easy step-by-step tutorial on how to draw a shark!

Students will learn:
1. Different types of sharks and their characteristics
2. How sharks hunt
3. The anatomy of sharks (what their body is made of, information about their teeth)
4. How sharks reproduce
5. How sharks use their senses
6. How people harm sharks and affect their population
7. How scientists study sharks
8. How people can protect the shark population

Supply List
Students will need their preferred type of drawing paper and a drawing utensil (pen, pencil, etc.). They may also bring markers and colored pencils if they wish to color their drawing in class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Hello parents and learners! My name is Davind (sounds like "Devin") and I am excited to share my classroom with you! My background is very diverse, as my headline says, so I have vast knowledge in many areas from law to essential oils! My core purpose and mission in life is to spread awareness about the life-altering benefits of expressing gratitude!
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Master's in Public Administration. I have been an ESL teacher for over three years (ages 5-13), and am TEFL certified. I am also a former substitute teacher, pre-k through high school, and I currently homeschooled my own children through second and fourth grade. I was an instructor at a Georiga college for five years where I taught various Criminal Justice courses to adults and high school students preparing for college.
My hobbies include baking, natural remedies to include using essential oils and herbs, drawing, collecting cute cherubs, and ANYTHING technology. My classes will be fun, interactive, and I guarantee your children will laugh. I believe in meeting children where they are and helping them to achieve their goals while enhancing their confidence.
