This class is an extended and combined version of my Women in History and Extraordinary People classes. In this class, we will be highlighting the lives important people throughout history. We will explore a brief biography of their life, the society and culture that shaped them, and what contributions they made in their field. We will discuss how their lives would be different if they had been born in a different time and culture. If you have any suggestions as to who we should learn about...
Each class will consist of slides, videos, and readings. The first part of each class will be a lecture type class where I will review a mini-biography, and listen or watch any film or recordings. The second part of the class will be an open discussion of what our thoughts about that person are and what we can learn from them to implement in our own lives. I believe that in everything that we read and learn about there is something that we can implement in our own lives to help us achieve our goals.
I have been an educator on Outschool since February of 2018. I have both my MBA and MHA, both of which have taught me the value of conducting research and asking questions.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Each week, we will talking about people from various points in history. There may be some discussion of discrimination, sexism, racism, and oppression. Parents are advised to review the class topic list for each week. There may be some Youtube videos that are seen during this class. I will share my screen and learners will not need to access them on their own.
