Class Experience

Do you love watching your guinea pigs play? In this one-time class, we will create a healthy treat that provides tasty fun for your guinea pigs. Together, we will use fruits and vegetables to create guinea pig "eggs." These eggs will provide ideal nutrition and exercise opportunities for your piggy pets. First, we will briefly discuss a variety of fruits and vegetables that provide optimal nourishment for your guinea pig friends.

The class structure is as follows:
1. Introductions and Guinea Pig Meet-And-Greet
2. Brief nutrition discussion
3. Hands-on treat creation
4. Class egg hunt for our guinea pigs

This class is designed to be shared by both guinea pigs and their owners, so all pets are welcome. It may be advisable to put your guinea pigs away while we are making the treats. Otherwise, your furry friend may want to eat before we are ready. Students will have lots of opportunities for interaction and discussion with other classmates at strategic points in the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn:
1. Which fruits and vegetables offer optimal nutrition for guinea pigs.
2. How to create pet-friendly treats for their guinea pigs that are healthy and nutritious.
3. Create a snack for their pet independently.

There will also be some use of a knife/kitchen cutting tool. Parental assistance or observation may be required for safety purposes. This is at the parent's discretion.
Supply List
A one-page handout with ingredients and a recipe will be distributed before class. This will help guide our discussion. Students may want a pencil or pen for notes if they choose.
