Class Experience

Can I use shampoo on my guinea pig? How do I clip my guinea pig's toenails? Do I need to brush my guinea pigs teeth?

These are all questions students ask me over-and-over! This class is designed to take your student through the process of grooming their guinea pigs almost independently. When we finish, your student will know what tasks should be done weekly and monthly. They will also know which tools to use for easy grooming and how to reduce their piggy's stress if that's a problem. Your student will confidently groom their guinea pig on their own.

Class outline:
1. Welcome and guinea pig trivia
2. Grooming tools and supplies
3. Grooming tips and tricks
4. Hands-on grooming demonstration with Coal! (the class mascot)
5. Review game and guinea pig meet-and-greet

This class will be highly interactive. I am passionate about student engagement and will make sure everyone participates and enjoys the materials. Learners will also have the opportunity to discuss class concepts with one another frequently during class. We will use short video clips, interactive slides, and even some hands-on practice with their own guinea pigs if they have them!

This class is designed for guinea pig owners. However, students who are simply interested in their care will benefit from this as well.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello there! I'm a certified teacher, librarian, and former volleyball and track coach who homeschools my four amazing kiddos. I believe every day is a unique opportunity to learn at least one new thing.

Here at Outschool, I teach courses related to History and fun classes about small animal care. I believe that anyone can learn anything with the right approach. Because of this, I seek to employ creativity and individualized learning opportunities to help students meet their goals. All subjects can be interesting and even fun!

I believe in relational teaching and build my classes around student engagement and discussion. All students have value and worth and contribute meaningfully to a class. I take advantage of every opportunity to laugh and learn with them.

Fun facts about me: I love books, movies (Hello MCU and Monsterverse!), animals, and great food! I have ridden an elephant (her name was Daisy) and run a marathon (that's 26.2 miles) and currently teach students from all over the world!
