A GREAT ART CLASS FOR THE HOLIDAYS -- SESSION 1: FROM DEC.28-30 (Wednesday-Friday). In this series by Mr. Powell of HistoryAtOurHouse students will be guided in developing visual art-appreciation techniques by looking at the greatest art ever made. These are fundamentally the same techniques that are used in "History Through Art" courses, but now they will be applied to art that does not necessarily have historical content or themes. Famous artists such as Raphael, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and William Adolphe Bouguereau will of course be featured, but the most exciting outcome of the course may be that students will be exposed to many great artists whose work has been obscured in our post-modern world of so-called "abstract" art. This session will focus on a famous name, but one whose artistic achievements are not given their proper due: the *Amazing* Norman Rockwell! Parents are encouraged to participate, and to rediscover the beauty of the greatest representational art ever produced. This three part series, where three compelling images about American life will be examined per class, including such works as: -The Runaway -The Jury -Law Student Images relating to the holidays will also be featured! Parents are invited to search for these images on images.google.com to see how spectacular they are! Welcome to the world of AMAZING ARTISTS!
