It’s time to learn about bears! In this class we will look at all three kinds of Alaskan bears: black bears, brown or grizzly bears, and polar bears. We will see how they are different and alike. We will learn about what they look like, what they eat, and how they live. There will also be time to look at real black and brown bear furs and skulls so that we can use our powers of observation to learn even more about these amazing Alaskan animals. We will get a chance to see why these animals do so well in the rugged Alaskan environment!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I'm Amy Davis and I'm passionate about teaching and helping kids learn. I am an 8th generation teacher and have taught kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd grade in public school, right here in the hometown where I was born and raised. I have watched, helped, volunteered, and taught professionally my whole life. I believe that learning can and should be a part of real, everyday life. Looking for the opportunities to teach in everyday activities is so much fun—they’re everywhere! I love creativity and coming up with fun and engaging ways to learn. Now that I'm a mother, I'm having great fun living this out on a daily basis. I'm amazed at how much my daughters already know with just a little intentionality. I especially enjoy teaching reading and art, but every subject can be a thrilling experience with a little creativity!
