👉 I am not currently offering one-on-one live sessions but my self-paced classes are all individual! You will get the same lessons as I teach live but with a lot of extra material. While I love my live classes, the self paced ones provide more time for one-on-one interactions in the classroom. And there's also a whole new dimension of applying what we learn! I've chosen real-life application videos on YouTube and created discussion questions to really dig in to the topic in more detail. 😊 https://outschool.com/classes/anatomy-coloring-book-with-a-physician-learn-like-a-medical-student-part-1-KuuIC5Kg ❓Dr. Robin Created a Coloring Book❓ Yup! I had to because there wasn't anything good enough to use with my students! Anatomy coloring books meant for students are either silly clip art or throw lots of random information at you. Mine is designed to teach important concepts and give just the right amount of information. When it came out, it was the #1 new release in kids science on Amazon! 👉 click here to see/purchase the book we use in class: https://www.amazon.com/Robins-Anatomy-Coloring-Serious-Scientists/dp/B0DDVY1GPQ/ Enjoy individualized attention and work at your own pace! HOW CAN THIS TIME BE USED? -- understanding ADHD, autism, or dyslexia -- science fair preparation -- helping a learner understand their medical condition -- helping a learner understand a loved one's medical condition -- digging deep into a special interest -- preparing for a test/exam/entrance evaluation -- preparing for an interview -- covering a topic I don't do in group classes (for example, cancer, human reproduction) -- digging deeper into a topic I covered in a group class -- tailoring a lesson to a learner with special needs or difficulty focusing -- teaching an entire family at once (parents can come too!) -- an option for learners who are out of age range for my group classes Who Might Prefer 1-on-1? Learners who... --have a special interest in human biology can dig deeper --have more questions about a topic covered in class --can't focus in a full class and prefer to have 1-on-1 attention --need extra help in a topic --want to connect various branches of science (ie chemistry with human biology) --want to learn about a topic not currently scheduled Because I'm a family physician, I can answer almost any reasonable question about the human body and provide real-life context. My tone is always reassuring and never scary. In the one-on-one, I can go into more detail about topics I do not discuss in depth in my group classes (such as cancer). Please do warn me ahead of time if there's something that's deeply affecting your child that you want me to avoid talking about as I'm happy to defer questions to you. If your child asks a question that is not "Outschool appropriate", I will be deferring that to you unless you specifically discuss the situation with me ahead of time. After the session, I'll provide links to any related videos or resources I've recommended on the topic. I also have done special lessons for learners who have been touched by a particular diagnosis and want to understand more. These can be planned in consultation with you to make sure it's just what's needed.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Nothing in this class will be or is intended to be medical advice. This is merely educational in nature and will be a surface-level overview. Your student will not be coming out of this class knowing anything about how to diagnose or treat these conditions and we will not be discussing any personal medical questions/needs. Students should come with general questions about the topic.
Supply List
If learners have models or books, they are welcome to bring them to class. These are not at all necessary as I will be using models and illustrations together with examples and stories to help the organs really come alive for the students.
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Meet the teacher
Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Degrees
Doctoral Degree from Unviersity of Colorado School of Medicine
Bachelor's Degree in Science from University of Denver
As a family physician with a decade in private practice, I love teaching young people about how their bodies work. I believe that people who understand their bodies will take better care of them. I've now taught well over 2000 learners on Outschool and love spending my time with young people!
