Homework
1 hour per week. Homework will be assigned each week so that students can review and practice the skills that were learned in that week's class. This homework should take approximately 15-30 minutes total and will (most of the time) come in the form of a worksheet that I will provide. If it is not a worksheet, it will be a creative assignment that will not require specific supplies.

Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
In this 13-week, foundational class, students will have the opportunity to learn and practice each of the 26 letters (please see the schedule below) in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Our primary focus will be letter recognition (both uppercase and lowercase), however, we will also begin working on letter sounds and letter formation. Since playing is the best way for learning to really stick with children, that is how I model my teaching style. We will use a combination of flashcards, pictures, songs, games, and conversations.

This class is created with students who are new to the topics in mind, however, students who need review or practice are always welcome. Homeschool learners and ESL learners are also welcome.

Week 1: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: S & A
Week 2: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: T & P
Week 3: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: I & N
Week 4: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: C & O
Week 5: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: D & G
Week 6: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: M & K
Week 7: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: E & R
Week 8: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: U & B
Week 9: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: H & F
Week 10: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: L & J
Week 11: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: W & V
Week 12: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: X & Y
Week 13: Alphabet Song, Focus Letters: Z & Q

The order of the focus letters is based on frequency in early sight words, as well as fine motor skill development.

In each class, students will have the opportunity to practice, ask questions, and solidify their understanding of key concepts. Homework will be assigned each week to encourage students to review what was learned in that week's class. If students have questions between classes, I would encourage them to post in our classroom and I will respond.

I feel that children should be encouraged to follow their passions. Children need to know that they can have what they want for their lives if they have the correct tools and motivation to get there. I hope to help build confidence in my students and to give them some of those tools. I also believe that not every child learns the same way. Education is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I look forward to helping your child learn how they learn.

While I offer an extensive collection of class content choices, my specialty is meeting students where they’re at and making the course material accessible to all students, regardless of the topic. I love to be silly with my students and encourage interaction in all of my classes. I want learners to feel at ease and safe to be themselves in my classroom. My small class sizes and relaxed, encouraging teaching style allow me to tailor my classes to each student’s needs and learning style, resulting in learners walking away from class confident and smiling.

Hi there. I am a homeschooling mom of five kids, ranging in age from ten to nineteen. We are diving into our 7th year of homeschooling and we love it. I have a passion for both education and creativity and I love combining the two whenever I can. When I'm not teaching (my kids or someone else's), I run a business based purely on creativity and art.

Traveling (and 8 years of formal classes) gave me a handle on the Spanish language. I have a background in general education from 19 years of combined experience teaching in public and charter school settings, as well as tutoring one on one, ESL, and running various camps and activities. My experience ranges from childcare (infant) age all the way through high school age and includes work with neurodiverse and special needs students, as well as students with mental health issues.

I have a passion for, and educational background in Graphic Art/Design, however, my degrees are AA in Liberal Studies and a BA in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology. I am also certified in TESOL and Art Therapy.
