In this ongoing class we will tackle a letter a day the sensory way! Adding touch and unique sensation is an excellent and exciting way to master the alphabet! Sensory learning engages multiple areas of the brain at once. With sensory alphabet practice students see, say, feel, and create each letter. Each class we will learn and practice the shape, sound, and associated words for a specific letter. We will take turns repeating, chanting, and saying every letter. We will practice writing the big and little version of each letter using a different sensory method in every class. Sensory methods are listed for each letter below and will be listed with preclass instructions if needed each week. Sensory methods repeat halfway through the alphabet. A tracing template will be provided for each letter. It is not required for class but it is available for your learner's use if desired. 3/15 Week 1 - A (cotton ball painting) / B (pipe cleaners) 3/22 Week 2 - C (playdough) / D (colored paper scraps) 3/29 Week 3 - E (sprinkles) / F (cereal/ oats paint brush sweep) 4/5 Week 4 - G (rice tray) / H (shaving cream) 4/12 Week 5 - I (marshmallows) / J (poms poms) 4/12 Week 6 - K (rainbow salt tray) / L (cotton balls) 4/19 Week 7 - M (q-tips) / N (mini marshmallows and toothpicks) 4/26 Week 8 - O (cotton ball painting) / P (pipe cleaners) 5/3 Week 9 - Q (playdough) / R (colored paper scraps) 5/10 Week 10 - S (sprinkles) / T (cereal/ oats paint brush sweep) 5/17 Week 11 - U (rice tray) / V (shaving cream) 5/24 Week 12 - W (marshmallows) / X (poms poms) 5/31 Week 13 - Y (rainbow salt tray) / Z (cotton balls)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! With over 12 years of teaching experience I am always looking for ways to keep the classroom fresh and interesting for young learners. I love to tailor lessons to each group of kiddos I encounter - in this case sensory methods! I find it's important to encorporate play and relevant themes to encourage interest and learning. I'm personally a visual learner; however, over the years I've made it my goal to incorporate each learning style into each lesson to help cement the learning process.
