Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten

Hello! This class is an adaptation of my private tutoring class of the same name. We will be focusing on letter recognition and sounds. We will practice simple tricks for remembering letter names. We will practice letters through a variety of ways. So, please check the supply section below.
I love to sing, use rhyme, and kinesthetic activities to help trigger all parts of the brain. This approach will help letter names stick with your child. They will also simultaneously learn the sound each letter makes. This makes the transition to reading simple words incredibly smooth.
Due to a group setting, we will take turns, practice kindness and respectfulness. I want each student to practice the letter name, share, and be heard. My students learn letter names quickly, and it is a lot of fun! I can't wait for you to witness the progress your young learner will make.
***NOTE: I will always teach. If the class has one student, I will still teach!***

Supply List

We will use a variety of items to assist with letter recognition and to help your student memorize the letter name.
Items include (but might not be used in EVERY class): markers, popsicle sticks, shave cream, plastic tray, Bingo dobber, pencils, crayons, and play doh
These items can be found at places like Dollar Tree, CVS, Walgreens, Target, and Walmart.

External Resources

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

My name is Teacher Kender! I obtain the following: BA in theatre, early childhood certification, elementary certification grades 1-6, and a master's degree in elementary reading. The most fun I have while teaching is when I can combine the two. I love digging into books and exploring the characters. I always read with crazy expression and sound effects. My read alouds are exciting and fun! I can teach your child to read, and I can teach them how to perform well in an audition. My available classes list will vary because of my love of the theatre and my passion for lower elementary. I was a classroom teacher for six years. All six of those years were spent teaching first grade. I taught ESL online for 5 years, and I have been teaching a variety of classes on Outschool since the summer of 2020. It is my philosophy that more is caught than taught. So, being a good example for your children is key. Surrounding them with others who instill respect, knowledge, and common sense is vital. Finding a teacher who can bring information to them in an exciting and fun way so that it sticks for a lifetime... that is priceless. Let's do this! See you in the classroom.
