Alphabet Fun: practice the letter names and sounds through movement

Come learn letter names and sounds through movement and play! We will learn all 26 letter names, sounds, and a word that begins with each sound. We will act out yoga poses for each word. If your child is in preschool, kindergarten, learning letter names/sounds, or beginning sounds this class will be a great fit! 

Examples:

Oo octopus
1. Sit on your bottom with your legs crossed in front of you. 
2. Move your arms to the side like an octopus 

Pp pig
1. Start lying on your back.
2. Pull your knees to your chest. 
3. Rock side to side on the floor like you are rolling in the mud. 

Play is one of the main ways in which children learn and develop. Young children can develop many skills through the power of play. They may develop their language skills, emotions, creativity and social skills. Play helps to nurture imagination and give a child a sense of adventure.

Before classes begin, please make sure the student has a safe place to move around and be active. We will begin class sitting but students will be encouraged to get up to perform the yoga moves for each word. Remember that ABC yoga is designed to be a fun way to integrate movement into learning. Poses don't need to look perfect or exactly as described.
