Learners will practice the letters of the alphabet, phonetic sound and how each letter is associated with an animal. Each letter is an animal that helps learner to remember the letter. Example: 'A' as in a-a-a - A-N-T. In class we will cover words starting with each letter of the alphabet and making sounds of the letters. We will also practice spelling simple words such as ant, bat, cat, dog, frog, etc. and other CVC words by sounding them out. It is an interactive class and we will be playing games finding the uppercase and lowercase letters, reading the letters such as in the game the rabbit is hungry and would like to eat the carrot - learners will have to read each letter to reach the carrot all in a slideshow and online worksheets. Example: Week 1: November Tuesday A - D Thursday E - G Week 2: Tuesday H - K Thursday L - P Week 3: Tuesday Q - S Thursday T - V Week 4: Tuesday W - Z Start over....with A -D ***Students are encouraged to bring their stuffed animals to class and we can identify what letter in the alphabet it starts with for fun. This class is designed for pre-readers and requires no previous skills or knowledge. ***Learners can practice writing their letters before or after class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and please take a moment to explore the classes I have to offer. Check back often as I will be adding classes. As an OUTSCHOOL teacher I will be conducting engaging classes about kindness, English, art, recycling, monarch butterflies, koalas, Earth Day, Bat Day, and Honey Bee Day, endangered animals, classifying vertebrates and Bully Busters.
I joined OUTSCHOOL in 2016 as a parent, and only recently began listing classes as a teacher.
I am currently an ESL (English as a Second Language) Certified Teacher and have been teaching English online since 2017. I am a home educator with over 20 years of experience and within that timeframe was a 4-H Leader (University of Kentucky Extension Office) having taught photography, art and volunteerism for ages 9 to 16 and conducted endangered animal/art workshops grant led from Roots and Shoots (the Jane Goodall Institute) for children of all ages. Having the combined experiences I have taught ages 3 to 16 with diverse backgrounds, including my lovely students with learning 'abilities', for 2 decades.
I have 3 children. After a home educated degree, my eldest child graduated college and served in Peace Corps/Africa. My middle child began his college journey in 2021, subsequent to his public school education. And lastly, my home educated youngest child is beginning high school and his favorite subject is.....lunch. I realize all children are different and learn differently, as with my 3. At Brownwood Education the great outdoors is our playground and many times our classroom. I love art & photography, nature, to travel, bike, hike, camp, kayak and to water that thirst of knowledge.
