Class Experience

This class will cover what an alpaca is, the difference between them and their cousins, the llamas. We will look at what their diet consists of and the importance of balanced nutrition. We will also look at what one does with an alpaca, like making yarn, walking and showing them, and how they take care of their pastures. There will be videos that include shearing an alpaca and watching the babies, called crias, play in their pastures. The field trip will be a series of photos and videos that will be narrated by the teacher. There will be ample time for the students to ask questions and share stories.
Students do not need experience with livestock and there will be no materials needed in advance.
