In this one time class, students will go through the process of making Sunday Sauce (a red spaghetti sauce). We will discuss everything from knife skills, to food safety, all while making a delicious meal that can be shared with family!

In this class we will start with preparation. First we will wash our hands and go over how to safely hold a knife (making sure it is sharp, cutting away from yourself, curling fingers so they do not get injured). After our safety lesson we will chop an onion. We will then discuss oven safety. Always ask permission from a parent to use an oven. Turn it on to a medium temperature so that oil and liquids do not spatter. Make sure nothing flammable is in the area. Roll up long sleeves and tie...
Learners will need the following food items: 1 onion salt, pepper, garlic powder 1 can tomato paste 1 can Huntz tomato sauce (or your fav tomato sauce) 1 small can tomato juice ground beef noodles Learners will need the following kitchen tools 1 sauce pot (large) 1 pot for noodles cutting board sharp knife spoon for stirring strainer
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents, please be aware that students will be handling a knife to cut an onion and using the stove to cook the spaghetti. Safety tips will be given before students begin cutting and using the stove (see class outline). Parents may need to be present to assist in stove use and knife skills.
